About Me

Dallas, Texas
This blog seems to be easier to update than my website. So I created this one instead. Hopefully, I can keep it updated a little more. Aidan, my son, is almost a year old and I am thankful for him everyday, even when he doesn't obey me. He is a terrific little guy. He keeps me happy.

Need Aidan help

Aidan has been in a toddler bed for about a month. In that month he has slept through the night one time. He gets up at least two times and comes in my room. I can say go back to bed and he will but usually wants me to come in there and cover him up or give him a hug etc. EVERY mornng at 6:30AM (this is in addition to the other two times in the night he comes in my room) and I let him in bed with me until 7:00ish until we are ready to get out of bed for the day. So needless to say a good nights sleep has not happened in a while.

Any ideas on how to get him to sleep through the night in his own bed. Brett says I need to lock him in his room, but that just seems so cruel. Is that what I have to do?

HELP!!!!

Yikes, don't lock him in his room! You'll begin a phobia of locked doors and make him even more anxious to be with you! We've had similar situations with both Zach and Alec waking in the night starting at about Aidan's age. Basically what has worked for me is this: I put a small pillow and blanket on the floor by my bed. If Alec comes into our room in the middle of the night I don't let him in bed with us and I won't walk him back to his bed. He can either get back in his bed on his own or he can lay on the floor next to me but he has to be quiet and sleep. It may take a couple of nights of saying, "No! You cannot get in my bed." But he'll quickly learn that his bed is much warmer and cozier than the floor and if he's scared (nightmares start at about 2 1/2 or 3 years old!) he'll realize that your floor is the only other option. It has worked for us. Good luck!

I never had big issues with Laura coming into our bed during the night. Once she was down, she did good. We had more naptime issues, but she figured it out quickly once she knew she'd get a spanken for getting out of her bed at nap.

You could babygate his room instead of lock it?? That way he could see out and you could go to the gate tell him to get back to bed w/o a cuddle and leave. Let him cry if need be.

Or you can just be consistent for several nights to bring him back to his bed without a cuddle and maybe spank his bottom and tell him to stay in his bed or he'll get another spanken. You could also try some type of reward with him in the morning. If he stays in his bed for x number of nights, he gets something?

I don't know..it is tough in the middle of the night to be firm. Once Grant gets his tubes, we are back on boot camp at night. Establishing healthy sleep habits is SOO important. I pray about it a lot!!

We did the pillow and blanket in the floor. Never thought about a baby gate. Good idea Sara. We also did rewards. Austin had to stay in his bed for 5 nights in a row and then he got a hot wheels car. He got a sticker each morning and I made a little sheet on the computer for him to place them on with a pic of a car. I'm all about bribery if it means a full night's sleep. Good luck!

Yikes, Rhett's big boy bed comes in February so I'm sure we'll be dealing with this...of course, he's room is upstairs so we definitely have to lock a gate that's already mounted on the stairs. I've heard that simply leading them back to bed...little to no discussion, conversation is the way to go and not to put them in your bed. It's hard though. Rhett hasn't been a climber so he sleeps in his crib well. He's even said that his brother can have his big boy bed and he'll stay in his crib! Yikes!

Hello! I would like to open cosmetology salon. Do you have an experience in this business? There are too many options in beauty salon equipment. Could you give me an advise? What companies are more reliable to buy 5 in 1 cavitation machine and Needle free mesotherapy equipment?
