About Me

Dallas, Texas
This blog seems to be easier to update than my website. So I created this one instead. Hopefully, I can keep it updated a little more. Aidan, my son, is almost a year old and I am thankful for him everyday, even when he doesn't obey me. He is a terrific little guy. He keeps me happy.

Thanksgiving and catching up!

I know its been a long while since the last post. I have been waiting for some pictures and now that I have them I don't want to use them cuz they are great xmas presents, so I don't want any family members to see them yet. HA! But I will post some very soon of the family and Aidan.

Thanksgiving my brother and his wife and kids came down and stayed with me in the new house. It was fantastic. I loved playing hostess. Aidan still wakes up every morning saying "TJ Kayla" Those are his cousins. They are 7 and 8. Very fun kids and they played very well with Aidan. Of course he got on their nerves some, but he is two, what can you expect. It was so great to see my brother and to catch up and my brother was really interested in seeing my mom and spending time with them.

Brian, Allyson, Brett and I went to the Thanksgiving game while Granny and Grandad stayed home with the grandkids. That was fun and the weather was nice. My brother was like a little kid in a candy store seeing all of the cowboys fans. When we got home we found out that my dad fell in the backyard and hit a rock while playing outside with the kids. He had a black eye and it was red all over as well because he skinned it so bad. We felt horrible and he is not allowed to go outside anymore with the kids :)

We ate a lot food and just had some good family time. I was sad to see them go but can't wait until the next time we are all together again.

Aidan is doing good in school. It is hard to get him to want to leave there everyday, so I take that as a good sign. He pushes me out the door in the morning when I drop him off as well. So I think he might like it. He is funny.

Work is good. My new bosses all work on the east coast and everyone on my team works from home so I have been working from home more and more. It is nice to only have to get Aidan ready for school and I can stay in my sweats then come home and work. I still go into the office a lot but not everyday so it is nice.

Brett had a conference in Orlando this past weekend, so I went with him and did nothing. I layed out by the pool for 5 hours on Saturday and we went to two nice dinners. It was very nice to get away and mom and dad had a great time watching Aidan. My mom has the special touch with getting Aidan to go to bed on time. I am still working on that one.

Take care everyone.

Elmo Live and Dolphins Game

Well it has been a busy month for us. Took Aidan to see Elmo live. Pictures below. (Sorry for the head tilt picture) It was in Abilene so took a little road trip. It was well worth it. Elmo put on a fantastic show. You can see how much Aidan loved it and was clapping the entire time. It was a fun day. I recommend any Elmo/Sesame street fans out there to go!!

Then I moved into my new house. I am now in a house with a backyard and a "playroom" for Aidan. I have taken over his play room for now until I get more furniture, but it has a lot more space for us to spread out and not walk on top of each other. I am enjoying it very much. It will be a while before I get it completely decorated and furnished the way I like it, but it is fun.

Then this past weekend we drove down to Houston for the Texans/Dolphins game. It was a fun day with the exception of the Dolphins losing. Fun game, but bad bad ending. I was so disappointed. Aidan had a great time. He cheered for the home team mostly, but would say "go dolphins" too! I was so proud! Another long roadtrip, but Aidan did great, he always does.

Other than that, things are normal here. To my long lost friend from South Miami...I am updating just for you :)

Oh, I am walking this weekend in the Susan Goman Walk for the Cure. I signed up in honor of my mom (who is doing very well right now). Let me know if you live in Dallas and want to walk with me.

Have a great week.

Aidan is HUGE!

I took Aidan to the doctor on Friday for his two year check up. The first funny thing was I took off his clothes for the exam and then decided to give him a fresh diaper so he was standing there naked and the nurse opened to door to have Aidan leave to get weighed. So my little man runs out in the hallway in his cute little birthday suite to get his weight. SOOO FUNNY. I wish I had a camera. Aidan was in such a good mood that morning. He layed down for the doctor to do the exam, he smiled and said hi to everyone. Then I had to take him to get his blood taken and I thought okay here we go, he is going to start screaming, but nope, he just sat in my lap while the nurses took his blood and didn't make a peep. The nurses were so amazed by him as was I. He really is unpredictable on how he will act, but these times when he is in such a good mood makes life so easy.

So, about Aidan being huge. He weighs 34.6 lbs, 37" long. Over 95th percentile for both which they say is off the charts. So I have a big boy on my hands. That would be the reason I can not carry him around a lot. The kid is heavy.

I cried at daycare!

Well the dreaded time has come and I am looking for a daycare for Aidan. We, in my household, call it preschool, because it is just so much easier to bare those words. I have known for a few months that the current babysitter will be going back to college and her schedule was not going to work for my work schedule, so I was tasked with finding Aidan a new place to go. Also, after reviewing my budget, it was clear, I was paying way too much for a nanny/babysitter.

Sidenote: I probably would have tried to figure something out with her schedule if I was not moving into a new house....YEAH ME! More later on the house stuff.

So, I made appts for Brett and I to visit a preschool that came highly recommended last week. So, we go in (without Aidan) and the director walks us around and we get to the room that Aidan would be in and the children are all sitting around a couple of tables eating their lunch that was prepared for them by the cafferia. My emotions just took the best of me, and I started to get teary eyed. Then we walked a little bit more and the director kept talking and it was all I could do to not burst out in tears boohooing. (Sara, the tears were streaming down my face). It was so funny, cuz I tried so hard to fight them and then I just decided to let loose so I could feel better. Brett explained my emotions to the lady and one of the teachers saw me crying through the window and brought me tissues. (I liked her). So, deedless to say, that was a hard day and we are not choosing that place.

The next day, we went to a montessori school. I walked in and no tears at all. Asked a lot of questions, felt so comfortable. Brett was there also and when we walked, I said "I LOVE that place" and he said "I HATE that place" and we both laughed because I thought he loved it and he thought i hated it. It was a priceless moment. But he talked to a good friend that sent her kids there and he now has another opinion about the school and he also said "I am fine with it because it didn't make you cry" I thought that was sweet.

So, Aidan goes in for an evaluation on tuesday morning. I hope it is nothing except for them to meet him and realize he is the best child ever and maybe they will pay me for him to go to school there. Okay, now I am going a little overboard, but I'm a mom.

We have another place to try tomorrow. A Child Develpment Center near my office. I will let everyone know if I cry or not.

Have a great night.

Oh P.S. Please keep remembering my mom in your prayers. She was starting to feel better and get her energy back, and last night she had a rough night and today she is not doing so great, so please don't stop praying and it is okay to tell God you don't like Cancer. I say it all the time.

Thank you!

Aidan's birthday and our trip to Philly

Aidan's birthday was so fun. Aidan was so cute, he knew he was the man of honor and he had a great time. As you can see, I attempted to bake an Elmo cake. It was the ugliest cake I have seen by far. But it makes for good memories, so I had to post it. It actually tasted pretty good! HA. Aidan loved wearing his Elmo birthday hat and we had to keep him from popping himself with the elastic piece. He also loved when we sang "Happy Birthday" to him. He thought that was the best and clapped and yell "YAHHH" after we were done. It was the best.

My parents were there and my mom said it was a day she will never forget. We had a small get together at Brett's place and then went to the mall. Aidan rode the horrssse. It is his new word, so of course we have to ride the thing. He likes to go around and try to spot Brett and wave really big for the camera.

It really was a great day!

We went to Philadelpha last weekend to visit my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew. It was so much fun. We spent they day together in Atlantic City and Aidan experienced his first beach/ocean time. First time of many many more beach trips and also many more trips to come with the family. It was so much fun seeing the cousins together. TJ and Kayla thought Aidan was hilarious and Aidan thought they were just as entertaining. Aidan did great traveling. He does pretty well most of the time however on the flight back we were delayed THREE HOURS ON THE PLANE prior to take off and then another three hour flight. It was so crowded and so stressful. He was very difficult for us, but that is to be expected from an almost two year old sitting on our laps. It was tough but we survived and we had such a great trip! I called my parents every few hours to give them an update. They wanted to be there, but my mom was just not up for traveling. I brought her home some good pictures though.

My sweet boy turns TWO!!!!!!

My sweet, funny, dancing, devilish, angel, handsome little man turns two on Saturday. We are having an ELMO party with my parents. YES, I am making a cake. Don't worry, I am sure Brett has Sprinkles cupcakes on speed dial for when he starts to smell the smoke from the oven. :)

So let me update you on my two year old. Some say his vocabulary is pretty advanced for his age. I am not so sure about that yet. We will wait and see what the doctor says, but he sure does say a lot without making any sense at all. He LOVES to introduce himself to people. If he says hi first, then he will happily carry on a conversation with you. But if I try to introduce him to someone or someone says hi to him first, he will go really really shy and will not speak. It is really funny.

He will do one of three things when you ask him to do something. If you say "Aidan can you go get your shoes?" He will:
1. Close his eyes. That means you can't see him anymore and hopefully you will just go away.
2. Say "No, no, no, no"
3. Lay down on his belly and pretend to sleep including snoring....aww shooo awww shoo.

Yep, Granny is convinced he will be a comedian. It is hard to discipline a little boy who makes you laugh all the time. He still is a pretty picky eater. Loves peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies. Boy after my own heart.

He loves his daddy and lights up when he seems him. Brett and Aidan have a very special relationship and I am so thankful for that.

He is just now starting to say "Mom?" with a question mark and I feel like even if he ask for a million dollars, if he add Mom? to it, I will have to find it some how for him.

Aidan can spot an airplane from miles away. "Airplane, Airplane" and will not stop until you find the airplane and say "yes airplane".

This is something I am not proud of and will soon invest in lots of Miami dolphin stuff for around the house, but Aidan will see a Dallas Cowboys star/jersey etc. and say "Football". I am working on that.

He still gives the best hugs and kisses. I try to steal a cuddle any time I can.

I will up date with pictures from the party and also pictures from the trip to Philly where the cousins were together. It was a special time.

Update on stuff!

Well, I found out that I can get into my blog at work! SHHHHHH don't tell my boss. JK. I am here at work a little early and it is quiet so I thought I would give an update.

Mom/Cancer - I hate cancer. The breast cancer has spread into my moms liver. So they are going to start two kinds of chemo starting on Monday. The doctors are positive and so is my mom. She is amazingly upbeat and positive and is all she ask for are prayers. She feels pretty good right now, just in a little bit of pain.

Parents/Move - Yep. They are moving AGAIN! You know those parents that have lived in the same house for many many years maybe even since their kids were little? Well, that is not my parents. There is always are good reason for the move, but still. So anyway, it is a positive thing for me because they are moving closer. Right now, my dad has a very very long commute to work but he was suppose to retire this month, so because he is still needing to work for the insurance (stupid cancer), they decided to move close. So he will have only a 5 mintue commute and my mom will be closer to town and she will be able to drive more places etc. It is a good thing and i am excited.

Work/Move - My office move from downtown Dallas to Addison. This is a VERY good thing, because I live in Addison - :) I have a very short drive into work and so far I am loving it. I miss downtown, but I love the drive in now. I am minutes from home and Aidan.

Trip - We are trying to plan a trip with Aidan to go see my brother. I hope it works out.

Aidan - He is almost two and it is showing. But as hard as he is to handle sometimes, he is one happy little boy and still makes me laugh. Now his new cute thing is he will leave the room and shut the door and say "Bye".."Seeyousoon". It is the funniest thing EVER.

Wedding - My friend Jason Stipp got married this past weekend. (Some of you may remember Jessica Stipp - his sister). It was a very nice wedding and I am very happy for them.

Okay, I have to check my work emails now. I hope everyone is having a great day.

New Pictures

Just a few new pictures for you. Things are going good here. I do not like the hot weather, but I never do. I am enjoying the long weekend and getting ready to go on vacation next weekend. Aidan is doing good. He had a little bug yesterday and today, but seems to be feeling better. He didn't eat all that much for the past couple of days, but I tell ya the boy could stand to lose a few pounds. HA! Aidan is still trying to say everything we say and do everything we do. We realize if he is not the center of our attention, he is NOT happy. Its kinda funny, I wonder where he gets that from :)

I hope everyone enjoys the holiday weekend!!

The things I love about Aidan at 20 1/2 months old.

I haven't done this is a while and considering he is growing up so fast, I wanted to post the things I love about Aidan. Of course there are too many to list here, but I will put my top few.

1. When I ask him for a hug, he comes up to me, arms opened wide and says "Aawww". I wonder where he gets that from :)
2. When I ask for a kiss, most of the time he will 'cup my face' and give me a kiss right smack on the lips. So sloppy wet, but oh so sweet.
3. I mentioned this in the last post, but they way he says "Aidoe". You just have to hear it.
4. Now when I ask him a questions he says "Ummmm" and then answers me "Of course I have no idea what the answer is, but it is cute and very intelligent whatever it is"
5. The way he backs up, like a bus, to sit on my lap when I am sitting on the floor with him.
6. The way he says 'Elmo'. It is E E E Elmo. Like he is gearing up for the moment.
7. The way he eats his PB&J sandwhich. He opens it up and licks the inside. So clever.
8. Also when i ask him a question his whole head (along with his voice) gives me the answer. Again you just have to see it.
9. I love how interested he is in everything. Not just his toys, but EVERYTHING.
10. The way he says 'HI' to every single person that walks near us. And if that person does not respond, he keeps saying HI until they do.

An update....finally!!!

I am finally getting around to posting. I guess because I sit at a computer all day at work, with no blogging access, I don't sit on the computer much when I get home.

I come home and play with the little guy for a while. Aidan is doing great. Aidoe as he likes to call himself. Classic name huh? I finally got video of him saying "Aidoe" tonight. He repeats most things back to me and LOVES Elmo. He can't get enough of Elmo. He wakes up in the morning saying "Elmo, Elmo" I am glad Elmo is a good charecter though, he seems to get the little guy very entertained.

Work is going well. THey were going through cut backs and I thought I was going to lose my job, but I have a new position in my same department. Still a little scary because they are constantly changing things due to lack of funds, but so far so good. I just say " I am glad to have a job today" I will keep positive.

My mom is still feeling good. We are still unsure if this medicine is working, but for now they are staying to stick with this medicine for a couple of more months. They are most likely making their decision on how good she feels right now, so we hope she continues to feel good. She talks to Aidan every night and I think that helps :)

Nothing else is new. Just trying to find some new things to do with Aidan at this age and at the same time trying to find a life for me :) Oh the joys of single momhood. Gotta love it. I know I know, I shouldn't complain I do have a great great little boy. So I will not complain anymore. I promise.

I hope everyone is doing great. i am going to sign off and start reading up on everyone now.

Whats Happenin!!

To get you up to speed on the Roberts' clan:

LONDON BABY!

London was very fun. The flights were not as bad as I thought with an 18 month old. Aidan is actually a good traveler. He didn't sleep as good on the plane but I will not complain. He adjusted well to the time change and no problems at all. Just the sake of having to travel with an 18 month old and everything that goes into that is so tiring. I was exhausted when we got back, but again not as bad as I thought.

Brett's parents had a great time seeing Aidan and Aidan seem to enjoy his time with them as well. They live outside of London and so one day we drove into London and went site seeing. That was very fun for me. I have always wanted to go and it was nice to see the city. The weather was perfect and I could listen to everyone's accent all day long.

WORK!

I started my new job the end of January. It is going very well. I know Aidan is well taken care of during the day so it is pretty easy to leave. I am however very anxious at the end of the day to get home to him and play for the couple of hours that we have. I still pick him up from school at 2:00 one or two days a week and so that gives me some more time with him. Things are good there.

VEGAS BABY!

I know, I know we went to Vegas again. Everyone always says "you always go to Vegas". I guess why change something when you know you are guarenteed a fun time. We went to see "La Reve" this time. It was Brett's surprise to me. He got us the VIP seats and it was fantastic. I bouth the cd I loved the music so much. We tried to do very well this time and not eat toooo much and not exercise. So we walked as much as possible, one day even went to the gym and worked out. I think we did good this time. It was a nice relaxing time. Oh we had a couple of different people taking care of Aidan due to my mom not feeling so hot and when we got back Aidan was a little mad at me. It took a day or so for him to get back to normal. It is interesting how he reacted to it all. But he forgives me now. But while my mom and dad were here watching Aidan, my mom stayed in bed most of the time (update next) and my dad took over. He changed diapers and played and gave aidan his bath. How was very very impressed.

MY MOM:

Well, she is doing much much better. She finished her radiation and it took all the energy she had. But now she is doing much better and slowly gaining her strength back. Now we just wait to see if the current medication is working. Thank you all for praying during this.

That is all for now. Here are a couple of pics for you.

Whats New?

Sorry for the long delay in between post. My computer finally decided to quit on me and I wanted to wait and post pictures of Christmas ect. So to get everybody up to date I will start at Christmas.

We had a great Christmas. It was very relaxing, as all of our holidays seems to be, which I am thankful for and just a very nice time. On Christmas Eve we went to Kristi's parents house. It was nice because there were a lot of kids and just made it fun when they opened presents and running around with their new toys. They had a mexican feast prepared which I think was a first for me for Christmas eve, but VERY GOOD. Aidan had his first quesadilla that day. Aidan found a new friends there too, Crazy Uncle Larry. (I don't even think that was his but that is what we nicknamed him cuz he was, well, crazy and Aidan loved it). So that was a fun day.

Then Christmas morning we woke up and Aidan saw his presents from Santa. He still doesn't understand the concept of Santa but he did like his new toys. Then we headed off to Springtown to my parents house. We had a great time eating and opening presents.

Aidan is doing great. He is 17 months and just talking up a storm. He still says just phrases that Brett and I only understand but they are so fun. He says 'Hi' and 'Bye' and LOVES Elmo right now. As soon as he wakes up or we walk in the door he wants to watch Elmo.

We are going to the UK to visit Brett's parents on Feb 6. I am really really looking forward to going just kinda nervous about the flight. I don't do well on long flights and then we will have to entertain a 17 month old for 8 hours. So once I get passed that I really am looking forward to the trip. I have always wanted to go over there and it will be nice to spend see it with Brett and Aidan.

I have accepted a full-time job with Bank Of America. I consider this my big news by the way. It was a great offer and I am excited and scared all at the same time. I do not have the schedule yet for Aidan, but it will come together soon (I hope). My goal is to still not put him in daycare full time. The bank is going to be flexible with me but I need to get there and get started and put in some hours firsts. I start on 1/28 and am really really excited. Back to the corporate world.

My mom is not doing that great as of this week. Her blood test are coming back showing the cancer has spread so we really need to find that medicine to that stop spreading. Just please keep praying for that to happen very soon. She is in great spirits and mentally feeling good just in some pain where the cancer is. I appreciate your prayers.

Thats it for now. Aidan is home sick so we are in for a couple of days. I guess better this week than next week, huh?

Hope everyone is doing great.
